The Bioasis | Outdoor Adventure UK School Trips | Exeter, UK

Don't take our word for it

In the face of the climate, mental health and biodiversity crises, standard school trips are no longer fit for purpose. We believe in a wholly different approach. But when faced with such a radical change, we understand you need to do your homework on any school trip or residential provider saying they can help.

Below is a small selection of testimonials from teachers, students, parents, and even one from one of our freelance mission leaders. If you’d like to make contact with any teachers and follow up some references, please do get in touch with the team at Mission Control.

"We (staff and students) had a great time and can you please thank your team for the superb way they guided, led and built such a positive professional rapport with the girls, which gave them confidence to throw themselves into the challenges of the Bioasis.”

"A fantastic experience for our Environmental Science students taking the AQA A level syllabus. Almost all activities touched on aspects of our course content so great enrichment. The Bioasis staff had… designed an experience that was heavily scientific, bringing in specialists to give talks and demonstrate some of the research that they were involved in. This obviously takes times and careful planning.

Food was excellent - it is easy to forget that they must adhere to very high standards of food hygiene, catering to a large group and all this in the middle of nowhere! The students had a wonderful time and benefitted in many ways... We would not hesitate (as a college) to recommend Bioasis to other A-level Environmental Science courses across the country.”

"My son really enjoyed his recent four days at the Bioasis as part of a school trip.

Living without tech, enjoying the outdoors including some very fun activities as well as some community focused activities was a really positive developmental experience requiring them to think more widely about the impact they have on environments, certainly this is how he articulated it.

He spoke very positively about the staff and the provision of food - despite him being a fussy eater. We are grateful to both Bioasis and the school for providing this experience.”

I wanted to personally get in touch to pass on my thanks again to yourself and all of the Bioasis crew. The program you have created is incredibly special; it is unique, authentic and incredibly memorable.

I went on the Bioasis Extreme in the summer and I loved it! I would definitely recommend this - even if the prospect of a 10 day trip is daunting, being able to disconnect from the world for a while and get absorbed in the mission and the nature around you is 100% worth it! The Bioasis team was absolutely amazing and so helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable. I learnt a lot more about myself, the world around us and also a lot about cooking! From trekking, to bird watching, to campfire songs, every bit of it was incredible.

I went to the Bioasis as a college trip. This must be the best trip I've ever been on. It brings you challenges and puts you out your comfort zone, but I've learned so much going there. I loved it! Definitely recommend it,”

Jacob, student, St Dunstan’s College

Had an absolute blast of a time at the Bioasis. Learnt so much and the people were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend."

Simon, student, Churchill Academy

"I was on the School residential last week with our Year 8s and I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the whole operation.

First of all the staff - they were all, without exception, fabulous. The FOOD was terrific. Well thought out and thank god not the usual 'chips and ....'.  Each meal time had a great variety - always vegetarian or vegan options - and the night that had blueberries and raspberries for pudding demonstrates your commitment to providing nutritious quality food. Also that there were different herbal teas available as well as builders was amazing, thank you.

The ethos of having compost loos backs up your eco mission and sends a great message and they were kept spotlessly clean. I've seen festival loos. These were a different world! Teepee tents for the staff were great… and I would happily do that canoe trip again any day of the week. So, thank you - it was such a positive experience.”

"I absolutely loved it and I'm still 'buzzing'. Over the years I have worked in some very contrasting environments in industry, business and the classroom and with many amazing people, but I can honestly say that I have never felt as supported nor surrounded by such a great group of people as I did with all of you.

The set up, resourcing and organisation put you a long way ahead of other residential activity providers I've come across and you should feel rightly proud of that."
